Kathy Woodcock Grant, age 61, of Wilmington passed gently in her sleep Friday morning, April 15, 2011 at her home.

She was born June 7, 1949 in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Andrew Kenneth and Elizabeth Jane Corbett Woodcock. Kathy is survived by her beloved daughter, Amy Woodcock of the home; brother, Kenneth S. Woodcock (Becky); nieces, Allison Hale (Bo) and Adrienne Beatty (Marshall); great nieces, Caitlin Hale and Anna Beatty and great nephews, Spencer Hale and Davis Beatty all of Wilmington. Kathy had four much loved cats, Sassy, Gray-C, Boo and Sam who were near and dear to her heart.

Kathy was employed with Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Company for 20 years and most recently worked with Wellington Benefits, Inc.

Kathy was a kind and gentle lady who loved her family, especially her daughter, Amy, more than words can express. Always thinking of others, we remember the tender loving care she gave to her parents before and after they could not care for themselves. Kathy enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crypt-o-quotes, quiet meditation and a good intellectual conversation. To balance Kathy's serious side she had a great sense of humor and love of laughter. Always remembered will be Kathy's soft spoken words, steadfast faith in God, generous nature and joyful spirit.

The family will receive friends 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw. Following the visitation a funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with The Rev. William Moore officiating.

Honorary bearers will be Stan Woodcock, Alton Corbett and Wayne Johnson.
