Katie Jones Prescott, age 95, of Burgaw died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 16, 1912 in Onslow County and was the daughter of the late Asa Thomas Jones, Sr. and Eula Millis Jones. She was also predeceased by her husband, Bernard Prescott and son, Joseph "Joe" N. Prescott.

Mrs. Prescott was the oldest member of Jordans Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a faithful and active member as long as her health permitted. She was retired from Pender Memorial Hospital where Katie worked for twenty years.

Surviving are her beloved family, sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Thomas "Tom" and Kay Prescott of Burgaw and William B. "Bill" and Pat Prescott of Wilmington; grandsons, Chris Prescott, Mark Prescott and wife, Candy, and Wesley Prescott and wife, Natalie; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Jordans Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Hill Pearsall officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Chris Prescott, Wesley Prescott, Mark Prescott, James Highsmith, Ray Chadwick and Guy Chadwick.

The family will receive friends at the home of Tom and Kay Prescott, 2410 Stag Park Road, Burgaw.

Katie loved her family dearly, was steadfast in her faith, and lived her life for others.
