Kelvin Kent "Joe" Lewis, age 71, of Rocky Point passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 5, 1939 in Pender County and was the son of the late Oscar Paul and Edna Langston Lewis.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Lee Lewis of the home; son, Kenneth J. Lewis of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandson, Jonathen Lewis; brother, Lawrence "Larry" E. Lewis and his wife, Maria, of Burgaw; nephews, Brian Lewis, Adam Lewis and Michael Conway; niece, Karin Porter; and many caring extended family and friends.

Kelvin served his country for over 20 years in the US Air Force.

Joe was a devoted husband and loving daddy, granddaddy, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He lived life to the fullest and filled each day with laughter, spreading joy, and caring for others. In years past he enjoyed fresh water fishing in rivers and streams. However, his greatest joy was family. The entire Lewis family is grateful to God for Joe's life and considers themselves blessed with the privilege of sharing his journey on God's good earth.

Following Joe's wishes there will be no services held. His family would like for you to reflect on all the wonderful and happy memories of Joe's life.
