Obituary

Kenneth Devon Cavenaugh, 85, of Wallace passed from this earthly life to his eternal rest on Monday, May 27, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 16, 1938, in New Hanover County; the son of the late Raymond E. Cavenaugh and Viola Davis.  Mr. Cavenaugh was also preceded in death by his loving wife Virginia Cavenaugh; his son Michael Cavenaugh and his sister Charlotte Gregory.

Mr. Cavenaugh proudly served his country in the US Navy for 4 years as an electrician and served his community as a volunteer fireman for many years.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Ken Cavenaugh, Steve Cavenaugh, Dennis Cavenaugh and Davey Cavenaugh and wife Sue Anne; grandchildren, Justin Cavenaugh, Kelsey Cavenaugh, Cody Cavenaugh, Austin Cavenaugh, Brandi Cavenaugh, Nolan Cavenaugh and wife Gisselle, James Cavenaugh and Slayer Cavenaugh; great grandchildren, Bella Cavenaugh, Waiverleigh Taylor-Cavenaugh, Madelyn Wingert and Dax Wingert; brothers, Mike Cavenaugh and Gordon Cavenaugh; brother-in-law, William Earl Gregory; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Kenneth dearly.

Kenneth was a loving father and caring grandfather and brother.  He enjoyed the simplest things in life, but his greatest joy was his family.  Kenneth returned from the Navy and continued his career as an electrician at Camp Lejeune for 20 years. After retirement he opened his own electrical business at home.  Kenneth was a proud American who loved his country and was an avid Trump fan.  With a witty personality, he enjoyed joking and making others laugh.  Most of all, Kenneth was a family man.  He loved his family above everything else and was a great provider for them.   Kenneth will surely be missed but treasured memories of him will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
