Obituary

Kenneth Ray Cone Sr., 63, of Angier and Surf City died Sunday, June 10, 2012, after his brief battle with cancer.

He was born November 23, 1948 in Pender County, N.C. to the late Rhoda Jane and Virgil Lee Cone. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Virgil Lee Cone Jr.

Kenneth is survived by his loving family; his children, Stephanie Damery and Ken Cone Jr.; his two grandsons, Brent and David Damery; and his siblings, Barbara (Jack) Halstead, Billy Cone, and Clyde Cone; and many nieces and nephews.

Kenneth served his country proudly in the Vietnam war in the U.S. Marine Corps. He lived in Angier most of the time in recent years, but his heart and other home was in Surf City. There he enjoyed fishing, friends and beach/inland waterway life.

Kenneth had a way with people, and no matter where he was or how long he was there, he always made many friends along the way. He had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful storyteller. Kenneth found great pleasure in blue grass music and watching old westerns. He had many skills, some of which included carpentry and taxidermy. Kenneth will be greatly missed, and we will cherish our memories of him forever.
