Kenneth Dale Tatum, age 70, of Rocky Point died Monday, February 19, 2024 at his home.

He was born June 4, 1953 in Pender County, the son of Meredith Jerome Tatum and Carrie Mae Richards Tatum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Lee Tatum, Sonny Tatum, Charles Mergenthaler and Edward Mergenthaler.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Angie Crapper (Gene); son, Kenneth Dale "Buddy" Tatum Jr. (Jan); grandchildren, Kayla, Brittany, Charlie, Chelcee, Alisha, Brandon, Charese, Seth, Houston, and Anthony; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Suggs (Buddy) and Iris Burgess; brother, Anthony Mergenthaler (Libby); former wife and mother of their children, Hester Swaringen; all of the Edwards wonderful clan; many nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thank you to sister-in-law, Pat Ashline, for all the care and assistance she gave to Dale.

For many Years Dale was employed at GE Company in Castle Hayne.

In his younger years Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and best of all eating our coastal fresh seafood. Most important in Dale's life was family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They brought Dale great joy.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Richards Cemetery, 1613 Cowpen Landing Road (across the road from this address), Wilmington, NC 28401. The Rev. Chris Wroten will conduct the service.
