Kent
Brown
Jul 26, 1943 — Sep 4, 2019
Elkana Kent Brown, Jr. age 76, of Rose Hill left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
He was born on July 26, 1943 in Duplin County; the son of the late Elkana Kent and Bertie Francis Montford Brown Register. He was also predeceased by his brother, Clifton Brown and his special uncle and aunt, Billy and Cynthia Montford.
Mr. Brown proudly served in the US Navy for almost 5 years. He loved his country and was proud to be an American. After serving in the military, Kent became a mail carrier and worked for the postal service for 24 years.
He is survived by his son, Jonas Brown of Teachey; his sisters, Kay Sanderlin of Wilmington and Susie Durham and her husband, Wayne of Ocean Isle Beach; his fiancé, Patty Brown of Wallace; special cousins, Bill Montford, Johnny Montford, Mark Montford and Christy Fuss; special friend, Jimmy Mote and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Kent, as he was affectionately known, was a man of great character. He was a quiet man who tended to his own business and did not bother others. He was the happiest when he was doing simple things like watching the sunset, looking at God's beautiful handiwork in the mountains or just spending time at home with family or close friends. He loved animals of all kinds but especially cats. Kent will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at
