Ladonna Sue
Watkins
November 9, 2008
LaDonna Sue Watkins, age 47, of Rocky Point died Sunday, November 9, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving and caring family.
She was born December 7, 1960 in Wilmington.
Sue was a distributor of Avon for over twenty years.
Sue enjoyed all things in life and was the best wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She adored being with Larry and her sons, always planning things that included them all. Being a lover of the outdoors and an avid race car and go-cart fan, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at Hwy 24 Raceway in Richlands. Sue could grow anything and her yard was a perfect example of her green thumb. Several weeks prior to Sue's diagnosis of cancer she donated her long, beautiful hair to Locks of Love. Sue, who had a beautiful smile, warm personality, sweet spirit and generous nature will be forever loved and never forgotten.
Surviving are her loving family, her devoted husband of thirty-two years, Larry "Woody" Watkins of the home; sons, Larry W. "Woody" Watkins, Jr. and Joshua Allen Watkins, both of Rocky Point; mother, Bertha Hufham Permenter of Castle Hayne; sisters, Margaret McGirt of Wilmington, Deborah Tracey (Butch) of Rocky Point, Sharon Rice of Wilmington, Charlene Ladner (Mike) of Phoenix, AZ, Valari Stanley (Tony) of Kissimmee, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Reverend Arnold Griffin officiating.
Burial will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens, Wilmington.
Casketbearers will be Shane Head, Dereck Peterson, Jeffery McGirt, Pete Taylor, Gary Lee Rochelle, and Jody Milligan.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
Larry, Woody and Joshua would like to express their gratitude to Sue's family, to Lisa Head and Lower Cape Fear Hospice nurse, Ann Stoddard for the tender loving care given to Sue and to them during Sue's brief illness.
