Obituary

Larry Dean Carter, age 58, of Wallace died Sunday, May 17, 2009 at his residence after fighting a courageous battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

He was born January 23, 1951 in New Hanover County and was the son of the late Marvie and Janie Estelle Carter. He was also predeceased by his father-in-law, James Brinson (March, 2009); mother-in-law, Penny Brinson and sister-in-law, Linda Carter.

Mr. Carter served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He was employed at Gregory Pool Equipment Company for twenty-three years and was a member of Poston Baptist Church.

Surviving are his devoted wife of thirty-three years, Debbie Brinson Carter of the home; daughters, Kim Carter and Amber Carter Blanton and husband, Darrell, all of Wallace; brother, Bobby J. Carter of Warner Robins, Georgia; special friends, Mike Wood and Charles and Linda Register; his canine companion, Ruby and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Poston Baptist Church with the Reverend Dustin Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace and other times at the Carter's residence.

Casketbearers will be Dwayne Peterson, Charles Register, Charlie Register, Kevin Rivenbark, Billy Teachey and Mike Wood.
