Ivanhoe: Larry "Cutch" Eugene Horrell, age 89, a great patriot, was welcomed in the arms of Jesus Saturday, March 12, 2011 in Heaven to join his beloved wife, Bonnie Brower Horrell; son, Douglas Ken Horrell; granddaughter, Crystal Jo Horrell; brother, Cecil "Dick' Horrell and sisters, Berta Tompkins and Sudie Mae Horrell. Larry was freed from the pain he has suffered for the past several years by his Lord and Savior, who he loved, believed in and served.

Surviving are his son, Larry Dane Horrell (Saundra) of Apex; daughter, Sheryl H. Ivey (Bill) of Currie; five grandchildren, Michelle H. Eberhart (Robert), Tracie I. McBride (David), Douglas D. Horrell (Heather), Arthur Shane Horrell and Alicia S. Ivey; seven great grandchildren; brother, Irvin Horrell (Catherine) of Hampton, VA; sisters, Shirley Harvell of Atkinson, Lillian Russ of Burgaw and Verna Asbury of Ocoee, FL and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Horrell was born August 31, 1921 in Bladen County, the son of the late Arthur Hayes and Willie Mae Barnhill Horrell. He was a faithful member of Ivanhoe Baptist Church and proudly served his country honorably in the US Navy during WW II.

Cutch loved his family and was a devoted husband, daddy, granddaddy, great granddaddy, uncle and friend. He loved God's earth that he farmed for so many years growing and selling produce. The life he lived exemplified his Christian beliefs and strong faith.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ivanhoe Baptist Church with the Rev. Norman Wheeler and the Rev. Melvin Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Following the committal service the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall. At other times family will be at the home of Sheryl and Bill Ivey.

Casketbearers will be Stanley Harvell, Leroy Sykes, Roy Sykes, Neil Moore, Willie Moore, and Steven Horrell. Honorary bearers will be John Kelly, Charles Bridges, Billy Pridgen, William Sykes and Johnny Hunt.

With heartfelt appreciation Sheryl and Dane would like to thank all - family, friends, and medical staff who helped Cutch throughout his illness and his journey to Heaven.

Cutch lived his life by a simple creed: Do justice, love your neighbor, and walk humbly with God. Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into your rest.
