Larry Walter Olesen, 75, of Rocky Point passed from his earthly life on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Ashe Gardens Memory Care in Burgaw.

Born on December 28, 1939 in Portland, Maine, Larry was the son of the late Theodore Olesen and Marjorie Hansen Olesen Glander.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Annette Huggins Olesen, daughters, Candice O. Alexander (Rick) and Tamron Waters (Jeff), grandchildren Danielle Alexander and Lacey Waters; brother, Bill Olesen; sister, Diana Slater as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Larry served his country honorably in the US Navy. He retired from Bell South after working as a lineman and installer for many years. He was an active and faithful member of St. Mary's Episcopal-Lutheran Church as long as his health permitted. In his younger years Larry was a member of Riley's Creek Hunting Club.

Larry was a devoted husband and loving father, granddaddy, brother and friend. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid reader. With his wonderful sense of humor he made friends easily and kept them for a lifetime. Larry will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.

Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at St. Mary's Episcopal-Lutheran Church located at 506 S. McNeil Burgaw with the Rev. Ron Abrams officiating. A visitation will precede the service from 3 to 4:00 pm held in the Fellowship Hall of St. Mary's Episcopal-Lutheran Church. At other times the family will be at the Olesen residence.
