Larry "Pops" Milton
Teachey, Sr.
Feb 7, 1939 — Jul 15, 2023
Larry Milton Teachey, age 84, passed peacefully from his earthly life Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
He was born February 7, 1939 in Wilmington, the son of Fred Teachey and Lucille Carter Teachey. In addition to his parents Larry was preceded in death by his daughter, Gina Teachey.
Larry Milton Teachey or "Pops" as his family and friends knew him, was one of the hardest working men alive. As a machinist at GE and other secondary jobs throughout the years, his goal was to provide for his family, which he did well. But when not working his main passion was cooking. He loved being in the kitchen whether it was at home cooking for his family and friends, throwing a pig on the cooker or volunteering at the American Legion. Cooking brought him happiness and peace. He loved to fish, when the spots were running he was headed to the pier or putting out the nets. He also enjoyed hunting and would never turn down an opportunity to have a cocktail with good friends.
Larry is survived by wife of 62 years, Hattie Hall Teachey; sons, Larry M. Teachey, Jr. and Fred M. Teachey, and his wife Tammy; grandchildren, Meredith Amick and her husband Larry, Daniel Zook, and Alexa Teachey; great granddaughter, Anna Beck; many extended family and friends.
Larry retired from General Electric Company working as a machinist in the Aircraft Parts Manufacturing Division for many years.
