Laura Piner Rouse, age 91, of Wallace left this earthy life for her eternal rest on Friday, July 6, 2012 from Milford and Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center in Kenansville.

She was born February 16, 1921 in Pender County and was the daughter of the late Wiley and Bertha Piner. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Myron Rouse.

Surviving are her loving daughters, Gwen Maloney and husband, Millard of Raleigh and Frances Crane and husband, Peter of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren, Michael Maloney, Kelly Glenn, Allyson Torti, Peter Duke Crane and Laura Christian Carroll; great grandchildren, Kylee, Brian, Spencer, Michael, Eric, Sarah, Jessica, TY, Tiernan and Tess and numerous relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral service will be at 11:00am on Monday, July 9, 2012 at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha with the Reverend Larry Myrick officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside funeral service on Monday at the Wallace Women's Club.

Laura was a caring mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She found great joy in the simplest things, but her greatest joy was helping others. Being a hard worker with great work ethics, Laura enjoyed being a Walmart greeter for 20 years. During these years, she developed numerous friendships and acquaintances that meant a lot to her. One of her favorite pastimes was being outside enjoying God's beautiful nature and cleaning her yard. Laura will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The family request that memorial gifts be given to Milford and Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center, Carolina East Hospice Foundation, 748 S. Kenansville By-Pass, Kenansville, NC 28349.

Laura's family would like to thank the entire staff of Milford and Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center for all the kindness and compassion they gave to their mother and to them during the past few weeks.
