Laverta Mae Batchelor, 87, of Wilmington, passed away from her earthly life on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Trinity Grove in Wilmington.
She was born on July 23, 1938, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Padrick and the late Sadie Mae Padrick.
Laverta was born and raised in Rhodestown area between Jacksonville and Richlands North Carolina. She graduated from Richlands High School in 1956. She later married the father of her children; Kenneth C. Batchelor Sr. They were married for 38 years. In 1979, she began working for Dr. Catherine Kassens as her receptionist and retired in 2006 after 27 years. Laverta was a talented artist and enjoyed painting pictures for her family. She was an exceptional cook that enjoyed cooking for friends and family. Throughout her entire life Laverta was steadfast in her Presbyterian faith and instilled this .
Laverta is survived to cherish her memory by the father of her children, Kenneth C. Batchelor, Sr.; her daughters, Sharon Robinson (Tom), Peggy Lanier (Randall); her son, Kenneth C. Batchelor, Jr. (Carol); her grandchildren, Courtnie White (Jamie), David Smith (Amber), Chris Parker (Nikki), Sandy Allard (Justin), Candace Hulsey, Austin Batchelor and his fiancée, Nichol Henderson; her great grandchildren, Hailey White, Ethan White, Brody White, Lanier Hulsey, and a baby girl (Nugget) Allard on the way and sister, Barbara Gail Huffman (Jerry).
In addition to her parents, Laverta was also preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Sadie Christine Hulsey who passed in 2017.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington with Dr. Ken Gourlay officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Cemetery in Rose Hill, North Carolina.
