Lawrence Edward Lewis, 85, of Wilmington, NC passed away on May 22, 2023.  Larry, as he was known to family and friends, was born on December 2, 1937, to the late Oscar Paul Lewis and Edna Kathleen (Langston) Lewis of Riley's Creek, NC. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maria Girten Lewis; his children Karin Conway Porter (Brett) of Park City, UT, Michael William Conway (Libby) of Corning, NY, Noel Brian Lewis (Dee) of Stephenson, VA;  grandchildren Seth, Luke, Hannah and Kathryn. Larry was preceded in death by son Adam Brent Lewis and brother Kelvin Kent "Joe" Lewis.

Larry lived most of his life in Burgaw, NC and the last four years in Wilmington, NC, where he made many new friends in the community.  He graduated from Long Creek-Grady High School, Long Creek, NC.  Upon graduation, enlisted in the Air Force with Basic Training in San Antonio, TX, then stationed in Plattsburgh, NY (2 years) and Nouasseur Air Base in Morocco (2 years).  Larry retired from General Electric Company in Wilmington, NC.

Larry was an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 50 years.  Larry never met a stranger and always enjoyed meeting new people and learning about their story.  He was a great listener and he was loved by everyone he met for his kindness and easy-going personality.  He will be greatly missed!!

Memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, June 4 at 4:00pm at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 12 North 6th Street, Wilmington, NC.
