Lawrence Oliver Moore, age 56, of Wilmington died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 9, 1951 in Wilmington and was the son of Oliver D. Moore and the late Iris Faye Malpass Moore. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Booker Moore; daughters, Pamela Moore and Patricia Moore; grandson, Zackary Moore and granddaughter, Sapphire Moore.

Mr. Moore served his country honorably in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era.

Lawrence was a devoted husband and a loving daddy, son, granddaddy, brother and friend. His kind and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew and loved him. Throughout his lengthy illness Lawrence maintained a strength and a faith that was remarkable. He so enjoyed the beach, watching the boats go by on the inland waterway and all the beauty of nature. Cherished memories of Lawrence will forever remain in our hearts.

Surviving are his daughters, Tracy Lynn Moore and Laura Yerington both of Wilmington; son, Terry Booker of Dunedin, Florida; his father and step-mother, Oliver and Bernice Moore of Currie; four grandchildren, Kimberly Moore, Joshua Moore, Sandra SanJuan and Damian Walters; and brother, Rocky Lane Moore.

Celebration of life service for Lawrence Moore will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Philip Eakins officiating.
