Lawtha Crews, age 75, of Burgaw died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

He was born august 31, 1934 in Onslow County and was the son of the late Luther and Lillie Rivenbark Crews.

Surviving are his devoted family, sisters, Mary Lou Sawyer of Holly Springs, Della Beasley, Dorothy Gray, and Mildred Bryan all of Burgaw; brother, Jaddie Crews of Burgaw and many nieces and nephews, including, Steve Johnson.

Lawtha was a member of Jordan's Chapel United Methodist Church and served in the US Army. For many years he worked for Munday Companies at General Electric Co. as an industrial electrician.

Lawtha was a very quiet man with a heart of gold who loved and cared for many of his family members. He was a diligent worker always doing his best. He enjoyed sports and watching ball games on TV. His love for his family was evidenced by many acts of kindness. Cherished memories of Lawtha will always remain in our hearts.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Riverview Memorial Park with the Rev. John Barnes officiating.
