Lee Marino Rosa, age 92, of Wallace passed peacefully Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Milford & Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center in Kenansville, North Carolina.
He was born January 24, 1919 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, and was the son of the late Romeo and Blanche Lollini Rosa. He was predeceased by his devoted wife of 67 years, Mary Irene Dyrdek Rosa in June, 2010; his identical twin brother, Leo and sisters, Louise and Brunette.
Mr. Rosa grew up during the Great Depression and served his country honorably in England and France as part of the United States Army 3113th Signal Service Battalion during WWII. He returned from war to his loving wife, Mary Irene, to start a family in 1944. Lee found his niche in direct sales and completed distinguished careers with the Fuller Brush Company and Waste Management, Inc.
Being an avid golfer, he and Mary enjoyed 24 years of active retirement in central Florida during which he compiled 6 "Holes in One" and "Shot his Age" several times. In later years Lee and Mary moved to North Carolina to be with their daughter, Anita.
Surviving are his loving children, Allen L. Rosa and wife, Joanne of Montgomery, Texas and Anita L. Wagner and husband, Robert of Wallace, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jennifer Tickle and husband, Michael, Kristen Tollini and husband, Matthew, Lisa Anderson and husband, Travis and Karen Varga and husband, James; great grandchildren, Owen Anderson, Jack Varga, Gray Anderson, Abigail Varga, Aubree Anderson and Benjamin Tickle and his best friend and canine companion, "Sophie".
Service and interment will be at a later date in Yorkville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Mr. Rosa's name to the Milford & Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center, Carolina East Hospice Foundation, 748 S. Kenansville By-Pass, Kenansville, NC 28349.
