Lennis "L.W." Walker Benton, age 74, of Castle Hayne surrounded by family and loved ones left this world on Sunday, July 10, 2016 to be with his Lord and Savior where there is no more pain and suffering.

He was born April 20, 1942 in Brunswick County, North Carolina the son of the late Matthew Benton and Maggie Smith Benton. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Reverend Lonzia J. Benton.

L.W. was a man of generous heart with enormous love for his family, a people person with an infectious laugh and smile. He enjoyed time spent gardening and fishing but more than anything he loved to spend time in the company of family and friends; especially his adored grandchildren and great grandchild.

Mr. Benton owned and operated Benton's Heating and Air for over thirty-eight years.
Left to cherish his legacy are his devoted wife of 53 years, Mildred Hathway Benton; twin daughters, Connie Benton Robbins (Don) and Bonnie Guyton (Curtis); grandson, Adam Guyton (Brittany); granddaughter, Danielle Robbins; great granddaughter, Reagan Grace Guyton and due this September first great grandson; brother, Edison Benton (Laura); sister-in-law, Rachel Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wilmington Chapel.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Quinn-McGowen Wilmington Chapel. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington, North Carolina.
