Leroy B. Dixon, age 70, of Burgaw died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at his residence.

He was born May 17, 1938 in Duplin County and was the son of the late Jacob and Mary Young Dixon. He was also predeceased by his wife, Melrose Quinn Dixon and sisters, Gladys Hope, Edna Dixon, Flavi Albertson and Virginia Long.

Mr. Dixon served his country honorably in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Surviving are his brothers, Jacob "Pete" Dixon and wife, Eleanor of Wallace, Jimmy Ralph Dixon and wife, Gail of Rose Hill; sisters, Nell Barnhill and husband, Elgin of Chinquapin, Adell Culbreth of Mt. Olive and Judy Dixon and husband, Paul of Penderlea; step children, Terri Dirkse and husband, Dave of Winter Haven, FL and Dale Thompson, Jr. of Burgaw; four step grandchildren; special friends, Joe and Dave and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Mr. Frank Murray officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

Casketbearers will be Billy Albertson, Fred Aldridge, Chris Bollin, Tim Carlye, Anthony Darden and George O'Brien.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 am, one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Funeral Home in Wallace.
