Leroy Horrell, age 93, of Wallace died Friday, November 27, 2009 at PenDu Rest Home.

Leroy was born April 18, 1916 in Bladen County; one of nine children born to Clint Morris Horrell and Virginia Smith Horrell. He was preceded in death by sisters, Thelma Blanton and Lola Spearman and brothers, Daniel Horrell, Samuel Horrell, Tom Horrell and Raymond Horrell.

Surviving are his sister, Doris H. Futrell of Willard; brother, Hugh Horrell and his wife, Eleanor, of Morehead City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leroy loved his family and his PenDu Rest Home family where he has lived for the past 31 years. He was a kind and gentle man who loved the Lord and always had smile for everyone. His warm heart and gentle spirit will always be remembered.

Graveside funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Mt. Holly Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Randall Pearce and the Rev. Samuel Swinson officiating.

The family will receive friends 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.
