Leslie Gail Stalker, age 60, of Atkinson died Sunday, September 14, 2008 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC.

She was born November 29, 1947 in Hayward, California and was the daughter of the late John and Muriel McCain Simons. She was also predeceased by two sons, Brett Stalker and Gregg Stalker and brother, Steve Simons.

Surviving are her husband of thirty-nine years, George H. Stalker of the home; children, George H. Stalker III of Melbourne, Florida, Geoff Stalker of Wallace, Susan Kellogg and her husband, Rob, of Toronto, Canada, and Dr. Brodie Jenkins and her husband, Eric of Missouri City, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; one great granddaughter, brothers, Foster Simons of Carolina Beach and Jason Simons of Colorado City, Colorado; and sisters, Arlene Young and Cathy Erickson both of Massachusetts.

Leslie was a devoted wife, an excellent mother to her six children and a wonderful grandmother and sister. She was loved so very much and loved in return. She spent many happy hours gardening and quilting - her favorite pastimes. Cherished memories of Leslie will forever remain in our hearts.

She enjoyed working with the Pender County Sheriff's Department and the NC Department of Corrections, Burgaw Unit.

A gathering and celebration of Leslie's life by her family and friends will be at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel.
