Letha Parker Padgett, age 90, of Burgaw died peacefully Friday, April 2, 2010, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

She was born June 19, 1919 in Pender County, the daughter of the late Carlton and Nora Pierce Parker. She was predeceased by her husband, LeRoy Padgett and her son and daughter-in-law, Dewey and Elizabeth Padgett.

Surviving are her grandchildren, Kelly Padgett Hayes of Raleigh and Craig Padgett and his wife, Andrea, of Gibsonville; great grandchildren, Keenan and Kailea Crutchfield and many caring extended family and friends.

Letha was a faithful member of Forest Hills Baptist Church where for many years she gave of her time and talents until her health began to fail. She dearly loved her church family.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and the most wonderful cousin and friend anyone could ask for. She loved the outdoors and all of God's creations, especially red birds, flowers and her beautiful yard. What a diligent homemaker and excellent cook Letha was. For many years she was active in the Homemakers Club and enjoyed making crafts. Many family and friends treasure the quilts and craft items that Letha shared so generously. Singing with the Lamplighters was also a favorite pastime of Letha's. Letha lived a long and full life with strength of character and an everlasting faith in the Lord. Her caring, sharing and loving nature will always be remember and cherished.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Timothy Cook officiating.

Burial will follow in Parker-Chadwick Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, one hour prior to the funeral service.
