Obituary

Linda Pate Chestnutt, age 69, of Watha left this earthly life for her eternal home on Saturday, August 24, 2013 from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born May 26, 1944 in Pender County, daughter of the late John William and Mary Bell Rivenbark.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her devoted son, Michael Chestnutt (Pam) of Watha; grandchildren, Melissa Smith (Brandon) and Steven Chestnutt; great grandchildren, Marissa Chestnutt and Braxton Smith; sister, Janet Pate Memory of Watha; brothers, Nathan Pate (Sharon), Oscar Pate (Fannie) all of Watha and Jimmie Pate (Frances) of Ringgold, VA and nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Linda was a caring mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family dearly. She was a simple woman who was down to earth, easy going and not afraid of hard work. Being a woman of many talents, Linda was a great cook, maker of beautiful quilts as well as a good roofer. Linda never let others know if she had a problem; she only told you what she wanted you to know. She loved the Lord and was dedicated to Him, his family and her church who she dearly loved. Linda's family is grateful to God for her life and for your friendship and prayers.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Macon Wood officiating.

Burial will follow in Watha United Methodist Church in Watha.

Casketbearers will be Charlie Schoonmaker, Needham Hall, Scott Turner, Jonathan Turner, Rich Jones and Greg McNeil.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, one hour prior the funeral service at the funeral home.
