Linda Lane Jordan, age 76, passed away peacefully at the age of 76 years on Thursday, January 16, 2025, in Wilmington.

She was born September 5, 1948, in Wilmington, the daughter of Sidney Marion and Bobbie Ricks Lane. In addition to her parents Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. "Chip" Jordon, Jr. and daughter, Joy Highsmith Whitley.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Mandy Highsmith Baker (Austin); son, James Sidney Highsmith (Connie); grandchildren, Sabrena Whitley, Logan Whitley, Miranda Baker, and Sidney Highsmith; brothers, Greig Lane (Beth) and Charles Lane (Judy); best friend and stockyard buddy, Deb Ferrell; longtime friend, Yvonne Parker; many extended family members and friends.

Throughout her life Linda wore many hats and touched countless lives. After graduating college as a teacher, she continued her education getting a master's degree in counseling. Being an educator, Linda was both a teacher and guidance counselor for many years, instilling knowledge, respect, and consideration for others in her students. Linda made time for the things she enjoyed like basketmaking, crafts of all kinds, green thumb gardening, and searching for antiques or the next treasure in the stockyard. Linda was known for her wisdom, thoughtfulness, and great devotion to her beloved family, loyalty to friends and faithfulness to her church family at Jordans Chapel.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2025, in the sanctuary of Jordans Chapel Methodist Church followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. in the church cemetery. The Rev. D L Page will conduct the service.
