Obituary

Linda Warters Murray, age 68, of Burgaw passed from her earthly life to her eternal rest on Monday, February 20, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born May 30, 1943 in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Clifford and Bettie Blanchard Warters.

Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Milton Murray; son, Steven Murray and wife, Marcy of Apex; daughter, Jennifer Templeman and husband, The Rev. Mark Templeman of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, and Makayla Murray and Graham, Andrew and David Templeman; brother, M. C. Warters and wife, Linda of Greensboro; and two nieces.

After attending Campbell University, she later graduated from UNC-Wilmington and taught first grade until she started a family with Milton. Later in life, Linda was a homemaker, showing numerous talents in various crafts she made for family and others. She was a faithful member of Burgaw Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school for many years.

Linda loved her family and was devoted to each one of them. She was a diligent homemaker and with a joyful spirit filled her home with love and welcomed all who entered. Being a good neighbor and friend, she was loved by all who knew her.

One of the hallmarks of her faith was to act on opportunities to serve God by caring for others. She was involved in outreach projects through her church and regularly made small gifts or care packages to send to her children and grandchildren, always wanting to be involved in their lives, bringing them a measure of the joy they had brought to her.

Those who knew Linda described her as a woman of God, ready with a kind word, a helping hand, or a warm meal. She taught her children to care for others, and love their families. The joy of the Lord was her strength and she found much joy and peace in various kinds of music.

Linda's family is grateful to God for her life and they consider themselves blessed to have had such a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
