Lindsey Aaron Mathis, 26, of Wilmington went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 29, 2013 while at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Aaron was born May 8, 1987 in Wilmington.

Survivors include his dad, Lindsey Alton Mathis; sister, Bailey Marie Gates and nephew, Grayson Gates; grandparents, Faye and Dave Decatur; special aunt and adopted mom, Sherry and Russell Rivenbark; aunt, Mariea and Danny Atkinson; mother, Marie Molloy and several cousins.

Aaron was a free and joyful spirit with a true gift from God of musical talents. He played the drums and guitar with ease and excellence. Aaron was a loving and giving young man, always willing to share and help others. Most important in Aaron's life was family which he dearly loved. Treasured memories of Aaron will forever remain in our hearts.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Judy Jeremias, The Rev. Bill Applewhite and The Rev. David Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Pike Creek Cemetery, US Hwy 117 South of Burgaw. Casketbearers will be Douglas Mathis, William Atkinson, Adam Hammond, Trevor Todd, Tim Garner and Jeff Stringer.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Faye and Dave Decatur, 394 Upland Rd., Watha NC 28478.

Being the generous young man that Aaron was, his last gift to this world was the gift of life to others through his choice of organ donation.
