Linwood Wesley Newell, age 57, of Rocky Point died Friday, November 30, 2007 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice LifeCareCenter.

He was born April 6, 1950 in New Hanover County, the son of Raymond W. Newell of Wilmington and the late Elsie Latham Newell.

Mr. Newell was employed with Babcock and Wilcox for many years and was currently working with DuBose Steel, Inc. of Roseboro.

Surviving in addition to his father are his loving wife of twenty-four years, Peggy Johnson Newell of the home; children, Morris Earl Cavenaugh, Jr. and wife, Kristie of Benson, Ressie Cavenaugh and wife, Lisa of Rose Hill and Sharon Grey Herring and husband, Judson of Clinton; nine grandchildren; sister, Linda Newber of Wilmington; and step-mother, Aunt Mamma Joyce.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 2, at Jordans Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Hill Pearsall officiating.

Burial will follow in Jordans Chapel UMC Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Justin Cavenaugh, Joshua Hubbard, Milton McLamb, Thomas Fife, Cliff Raynor, and Carl Edwards.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
