Liston Samuel "Jack"
Tompkins, Jr.
March 2, 1947 – February 12, 2012
Liston Samuel "Jack" Tompkins, Jr., age 64, of St. Helena died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 2, 1947 in Wilmington, the son of Hilda Rooks Tompkins of Rocky Point and the late Liston Samuel Tompkins.
Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Cathy Harrell Tompkins; son, Anthony "Tony" Jack Tompkins of Rocky Point; step-children, Mimi Thompson of Burgaw and Larry E. Collins, Jr. and wife, Amy, of Clayton; grandchildren, Johnathon Phillips, Blake Thompson, Kenneth, Butler, Bailey and Hugh Collins; sister, Pamela Kaye Tompkins of Wilmington; nephew, Sam Brady of Wilmington; and numerous extended family and friends.
Jack was stationed at March Air Force Base in California where he served his country proudly and honorably in the US Air Force. He was employed for 28 years as a waste water treatment operator with the City of Wilmington.
Jack loved his family and was loved in return. Jack, a man of integrity, always did his best to be fair and honest in all of his decisions. Being a faithful and loyal friend was one of Jack's many good traits. If you were a true friend of Jack's you had a friend in deed. Jack was a simple man, enjoyed the simple things in life, but most important to him was his family and his faith in God. Cherished memories of Jack will forever remain in our hearts.
