Lizzie Mae Parker Johnson, age 95, of Harrells, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 after a short illness.

She was born in Pender County, the daughter of the late Mamie Elizabeth Rivenbark and Nicholas Roscoe Parker. She lost her husband and best friend, Clayton Johnson in 1976 and their only child, Ann Parker Johnson Haupt in 1997.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Eveleen Gurganious, Minnie Rooks, Rosa Frank Page, Newman Parker, Norma Johnson and Janie Boone. They lost their father at an early age so their grandparents were very involved in their upbringing.

Lizzie Mae graduated from Atkinson High School which always held a special place in her heart. After her marriage to Clayton in 1932 she moved with him to Harrells and worked beside him on their farms. Following his death she continued to oversee them. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends and her exceptional cooking. She also loved to travel, especially with her sister-in-law, Mildred Eakins. She enjoyed sharing the pictures they had taken from all over the world.

Surviving are her two grandsons, Jerry Haupt and wife, Sandy of Tempe, Arizona and Dale Haupt of Harrells and numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Siloam Baptist Church, where she was a life-long member. The Reverend Tim Register will be officiating the service.

Interment will follow in Harrells Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Hugh Johnson, Nicholas Parker, Sonny Parker, Leon Parker Rooks, Jr., Wayne Sanderson and Thomas Simmons.

The family will receive friends 2:00 to 3:00 pm Sunday, one hour prior to the funeral service at Siloam Baptist Church and other times at the home of Harvey and Sara Eakins Ragan.
