Lizzie Gurganus Rivenbark, age 95, of Winterville and formerly of Willard
left this earthly life to her new home in Heaven on Friday, June 06, 2008.

She was born June 13, 1912 in Onslow County and was the daughter of the late John and Marenda Alice Brown Gurganus. She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar Rivenbark and her siblings, Raleigh Gurganus, Ella Padgett, Turnie Gurganus, Gussie Carter and Ernest Gurganus.

Mrs. Rivenbark was employed with Pender county Schools for twenty-nine years where she lovingly served the children as manager of the cafeteria at Penderlea School.

Surviving are her loving children, Mary Ayers of Winterville; Marilyn Medina and husband, Luis of Willard and James Edward Rivenbark and wife, Sandra of Surfside Beach, SC; grandchildren, Thomas E. Stancil and wife, Martha, Alice S. Huggins and husband, Ronnie, Mary E. Meza and husband, Angel, Janice Denise Covil and husband, Mark, Linda R. Floyd, James E. Floyd, Jr. and wife, Ninibeth, Brian L. Mixon, Deborah Blake and husband, Donnie, James E. Rivenbark, Jr. and Michael Rivenbark; sister, Exie Padgett of Wallace; several great grandchildren and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace Chapel with Mr. Mitchell Padgett officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

Casketbearers will be David Padgett, Melvin Padgett, John Allen Padgett, Charlie Padgett, Johnny Padgett and Bill Marshburn.

The family will receive friends 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., one hour prior the service at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace.
