Obituary

Lois Marie Cottle Brown, age 72, of Burgaw passed from her earthly life to her eternal rest on Friday, March 2, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born May 16, 1939 in Duplin County, the daughter of the late Delmas and Annie Randolph King Cottle. Also lovingly remembered is her son, Allen Brown who preceded Lois in death.

Lois is survived by her loving family; her husband of 48 years, Edward Brown; sons, Jeffrey Brown (Laura) of Burgaw, Joseph Brown of Wilmington, Jason Brown (Penny) of Rocky Point; Stanley Brown of Raleigh; daughters, Edwina Knight (D.C.) of Wilmington and Michelle Sholar of Wallace; grandchildren, Shayn, Dustin, Christina, Olivia, Megan, Casey, Amber and Valerie; brothers, Raymond Cottle of Virginia and Freddie Cottle of Trenton; and many extended family and friends.

Lois was retired after working for 23 years as a file clerk in the Radiology Department of New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Lois was the best wife, mom, grandmother, sister and friend who loved her family dearly. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. She was an expert seamstress and enjoyed cross stitching and reading. She was blessed with a love for the Lord and a faith that took her through a battle with breast cancer eight years ago and a reoccurrence of cancer in the past few weeks. If the value of a person's life is measured by the love and joy given to others, Lois Brown leaves this world wealthy beyond measure. Lois' family is grateful to God for her life, for your friendship and for your kindness and prayers.
