Lois Daphine Pope, age 79, of Burgaw died Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

She was born October 19, 1929 in Pender County and was the daughter of the late Robert Tate and Emma Catherine Malpass Woodcock.

Surviving are her husband of forty years, Edgar Lee Pope of the home; daughter, Bonita Benton and her husband, James, of Burgaw; son, Hovie Pope, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Wilmington; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Lois was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed the simple things in life, but her greatest joy was her family. She will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit and her steadfast faith in God.

A graveside funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2008 at Woodcock Cemetery, Rooks Road near Atkinson with Pastor Richard Williford officiating.

The family will be at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, James and Bonita Benton.
