Obituary

Lois Mintz Rivenbark, 73, of Watha; a devoted, loving and joyful wife, mom, Nanny, sister and friend gently passed peacefully from her earthly life Monday, March 17, 2014 at her home.

She was born March 20, 1940 in Brunswick County to Horace and Sally Futrell Mintz and was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklin "Bill" Rivenbark and a sister, Mary Jane Heath.

Lois is survived by her children, Horace Rivenbark (Linda) of Willard, Peggy Barnhill (Robert) of Atkinson, Wanda Starr (Marc) of Richlands and Steve Rivenbark (Cheryl) of Watha; grandchildren, John Marcus Starr, Justine Starr, Jason Starr, Cassie Barnhill, Brandon Barnhill, Matthew Rivenbark, Joe Rivenbark, Jevin Rivenbark, Bradley Rivenbark, Zackary Rivenbark and Katie Rivenbark; and many extended family and friends who all loved Lois dearly.

For many years Lois was employed with Carlisle Poultry and Egg Company and with Walker's Minute Mart.

Not only was Lois a beloved wife and wonderful mama and nanny, but a generous friend to all who knew her. Her smile, her laughter, her caring brought joy to both family and friends. Lois loved the outdoors and throughout spring, summer and fall you could find her most every day diligently working in her garden. Lois was loved and will not be forgotten.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. W. E. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. Casketbearers will be John Marcus Starr, Brandon Barnhill, Bradley Rivenbark, Zackary Rivenbark, Matthew Rivenbark, Jason Starr, Joe Rivenbark and Jevin Rivenbark.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Steve and Cheryl Rivenbark.
