Loretta Reaves Carpenter, age 70, of Hampstead, NC passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.

She was born on January 24, 1953 in Harnett County, NC to the late William Palmas Reaves and Rosie Belle Peedin.

Loretta was thoughtful, always giving, and would go out of her way to help others. She enjoyed working on arts and crafts, sewing, painting, and jewelry making. Loretta was a very talented builder, creating three sheds, several front and back porches, and many other structures. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Loretta is survived by her son, Chancy Carpenter (Danielle); daughter, Tammie Vargas; brother, Bill Reaves (Cindy); grandchildren, Joel Gore, Juan Vargas, Renee Lewis, Kenya Rivera, Alex McConnell, Caryss Chambers, Jaydrien Chambers, and Jayla Chambers; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Donald William Carpenter; and brother, Ronnie Reaves.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Delco Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 283 Kaiser Rd, Delco, NC 28436, at 2:00pm with Reverend Randy Little officiating.
