Lottie was predeceased by her parents and sisters and brothers; Gladys Jeanette Creech (Hume), Max Leo Hawkes (Myrtle), Thelma Mae Beasley (Joseph), Jack Hawkes (Ruth), Annie Lee Coble (Albert), and Ruth Louise Watson (Lewis). She was also predeceased by her husband of 68 years, William Thomas Savage; and her son-in-law, William Francis Barry III.
Lottie is survived by her three daughters; Hilda Diane Barry of High Point, Bonnie Frances Horrell (Wayne) of Atkinson, and Sara Catherine Youngblood (Peter) of Portsmouth, VA; grandchildren, Thomas Wayne Horrell (Christy), Wendy Lane Wooten (Kevin), Benjamin Savage Gerhartz (Wilma) and Amy Lynn Gerhartz; and great grandchildren, Caleb Thomas Horrell, Brandon Lee Horrell, Isaac William Gerhartz, Ella Katherine Gerhartz, Hannah Patterson Wooten, and Samuel Carter Wooten. Lottie was a loving mother to Hilda, Bonnie and Sara, teaching them to cook, sew, and garden, and enjoy reading and crossword puzzles. When they were young, she often sang and taught them songs she had learned as a child.
She was a long time member of Potts Memorial Presbyterian Church and she enjoyed singing in the choir.
During the years her daughters were enrolled in college, she worked at the sewing plant in Burgaw, but for most of their life being a homemaker was her chief occupation.
Lottie loved being outdoors among the birds and nature and working in the flower gardens brought her great joy.
She greatly appreciated the love and support of her Penderlea neighbors and friends as well as her family. Thank you to Dayspring of Wallace and to Pruitt Hospice for your care in the last years of Lottie's life.
A private graveside service for the family will be held at Potts Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery with The Rev. Dr. Bill Goodnight presiding.
