Lottie Sanderson Howard Lanier, 84, of Watha died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Huntington Health Care of Burgaw.

She was born December 8, 1924 in Onslow County to Andrew and Bessie Jones Sanderson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Junior Howard in 1973 and later married Andrew Melton Lanier who died in 1997. Also remembered are her daughter, Dollie H. Lucas; son-in-law, Raymond Teachey and brothers, Gordon, Cecil and Beasley Sanderson.

Surviving are her devoted children, Jane H. Teachey of Watha, Josephine H. Wilkerson and her husband, Frank, of Clinton, Mary H. Marks and her husband, Robert, of Nashville and Ernest Lee Howard and his wife, Sarah, of Watha; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; two great great grandsons; brother, Glenwood Sanderson and his wife, Carolyn, of Warsaw; sisters, Etheleen Kornegay and her husband, Marvin, of Delco and Hilda Johnson and her husband, Johnnie, of Charlotte and many nieces and nephews.

Lottie loved her family, her Lord, and her church family. Her warm heart, gentle spirit and beautiful smile will forever remain in our hearts.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2009 (Lottie's birthday) at Cora's Grove P.F.W.B. Church with The Rev. Baris Lanier and The Rev. W. E. Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

Casketbearers will be Wesley Williamson, Mike Teachey, Anthony Teachey, Brandon Teachey, Gordon Howard and Jimmy Lee Howard.

The family will receive friends 1 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Cora's Grove P.F.W.B. Church, one hour prior to the funeral service. At other times will be at the home of Lee and Sarah Howard.
