Obituary

Luby Fields Jones, 74, of Burgaw passed peacefully from his earthly life Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 27, 1945, in Kinston, one of four children born to Anthony Fields Jones and Essie Dail Stroud Jones. Also lovingly remembered is his son, Rodney Jones who preceded Luby in death in 1991.

Luby is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nora R. Jones; daughter, Tonia Heath (Tony); son, Jeremy Jones (Jessica); grandchildren, Brittany Heath-Thompson (Steven), Kelly Heath, Tony "TC" Heath, Jr., and Jennifer Jones; great grandchildren, Jayden, Cambree, Chase, Collin, Tristan, and Kinley; many extended family and friends.

Luby, known as the "Lance Man", worked for over 20 years in this area for the Lance Company.

Fishing, hunting, motorcycles, and anything outdoors in God's beautiful world were all things Luby enjoyed. Luby, never with an idle minute, had three buildings filled with items that he tinkered with. Luby was a noted tinkerer! Most of all Luby loved his family and filled their home with love, laughter, and Lance crackers. His presence in our family circle will be greatly missed.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2020 at Lanier-Meadows Cemetery, NC Hwy 53, Maple Hill with Rev. Phillip Shepard conducting the service.
