Luceil Whaley Edens, 96, of Watha, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Laurels of Burgaw in Pender County. Luceil was born in Pender County on June 7, 1924 to the late Lewis J. Whaley and Atha Croom Whaley.

In addition to her parents, Luceil was preceded in death by her two sisters; Lena Mae W Garriss of Watha, Arlene W. Moore of Watha; two brothers; Elwood Whaley of Watha, and Roy Henry Whaley of Fayetteville.

Luceil is survived by her nieces and nephews, including Jeanette Register who cared for her for several years, and many great nieces and nephews.

On May 15, 1947 Luceil graduated from NC State School for the blind and deaf.  She communicated in braille to many of her close friends. She also enjoyed playing the piano. Luceil was a very  loving and caring woman and will be missed greatly by her family who cherished her dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Watha United Methodist Church Cemetery located at 160 Camp Kirkwood Road in Watha with Rev. David DeBose officiating.
