Lydia Hinton Alford, 95, passed from her earthly life Tuesday. November 1, 2022 at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born June 10, 1927 in Johnston County, the daughter of  Clarence W. Hinton and Alice Hoyle Hinton. In addition to her parents Lydia was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Edward Boykin in 1957 and Jessie W. Alford in 2005.

Lydia is survived by several nieces and nephews; and a special friend and caregiver, Sue Kovaleski.

For many years Lydia worked with NC Department of Motor Vehicles in Raleigh.

Lydia was a strong, fair minded, and independent Southern lady. She maintained a good work ethic and was blessed to be able to live on her own at the age of 95 until this past year. Her brave spirit, sense of humor and gentle smile will be remembered.

A memorial graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Moores Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Larry Horrell will conduct the service.
