Obituary

Madeline Moore Pridgen, 92, of Atkinson died Friday, November 27, 2009 at Huntington Health Care.

She was born October 21, 1917 in Pender County and was the daughter of the late Oliverson and Kate M. Moore. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Owen Pridgen and son, John Wayne Pridgen.

Madeline leaves to cherish her memory a loving family; daughter and son-in-law, Mary John "Johnnie" and Donald Barnhill of Atkinson; granddaughters, Samantha Northcott and her husband, Jamie, of Atkinson and Suzanne Price and her husband, Chris, of Harrells; great grandchildren, Ashlea Price, Caleb Northcott and Brooke Northcott; brother, Junior Moore and his wife, Pam of Burgaw; sisters, Myrtle Lowery and her husband, Jimmy of Mississippi and Louise Davis of Wilmington; and many nephews and nieces, including Mamie Phillips.

Madeline was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. She loved sewing, cooking, crafts, flowers and most of all enjoyed sharing all that she made with others. Remembered by many are her embroidered pillow cases, foot stools, and home baked cakes. Madeline was active in Shiloh Baptist Church through the years and was blessed with a love for the Lord and a faith that took her through an extended illness. Madeline's keen sense of humor, beautiful smile and faith in God will never be forgotten. Madeline's family is grateful to God for her life, for your friendship and for your kindness and prayers.
