Madline Hall Griffin, 75, of Wilmington passed gently from her earthly life on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at her home with family by her side.

She was born August 19, 1936 in Pender County, the daughter of the late Crowell and Lila Wooten Hall.

Madline is survived by her loving husband, Franklin D. "Frank" Griffin of the home; son, William Keith Griffin and wife, Suzanne Trask Griffin of Wilmington; granddaughters, Grace Everett Griffin and Hennrietta Wooten Griffin; sisters, Vernell H. Jones of Raleigh, Julia H. Wells and husband, Johnnie of Willard and Hattie H. Teachey and husband, Larry of Wilmington; brother, Needham C. Hall and wife, Sylvia of Watha; seven sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Sarah, Eleanor, Kay, Barbara, Jo and Martha; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Madline graduated from Burgaw High School and received her undergraduate and a Masters Degree in Education from East Carolina University. For 37 years she taught in the elementary grades in Goldsboro, Grifton and Onslow County schools, having a positive influence on many young lives.

Madline loved and cared diligently for her family, being the best wife, grandmother, sister and friend anyone could ask for. Being an accomplished seamstress Madline made many precious outfits for Grace and Hennrietta, who were truly a joy in her life. Madline was a lady of grace who kept the faith during her illness. Snow skiing and catching Blue Crabs were favorite pastimes that Madline so enjoyed. Her caring nature, warm smile and gentle laughter will forever remain close in our hearts.
