Marcus Horst Zander, age 46, of Currie passed peacefully from his earthly life to his eternal rest on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 13, 1965 in Wilmington and was the son of the late Horst and Elease Henry Zander.

Marcus leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Bruce Hewett (Vicky) of Kentucky; sisters, Cheryl Woodcock (Ray) of Currie, Catherine Midgette of Italy and Marcia Johnson (Tom) of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.

Marcus enjoyed woodworking and was very proficient in that hobby. Enjoying being outdoors in God's beautiful world, he loved fishing. Above all Marcus loved his family. His last request was the giving of the corneas of his eyes that someone else may have vision. Fond memories of Marcus will always be held dear to our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 at Currie Community Baptist Church with The Rev. Jerry Worley officiating.
