Margaret Nicole
Bracey
Jun 8, 1980 — Aug 24, 2022
An act of violence took the life of Margaret Nicole Bracey, age 42, on August 24, 2022, in Surf City, North Carolina.
Born in Laurinburg, North Carolina, June 8, 1980, she was the daughter of Amy Margaret Stidd Freeman and Randy Freeman both of Blenheim, South Carolina. When her mother divorced and remarried Joseph Bracey, of Bennettsville, she was legally adopted by him.
Nicole and her parents moved to Danville, Virginia, where she grew up. She returned to Blenheim and lived with her grandparents Raymon and Johnsie Stidd, when she was 16. There she attended the Marlboro Academy from which she graduated.
Following her high school graduation, Nicole lived and worked in several different places, including Kentucky, Myrtle Beach, Florence, and Charleston, South Carolina. She worked in restaurants and in hair salons. Nicole eventually returned to Danville and obtained her bachelor's degree in business and marketing from Averett University in Danville in 2021.
As part of her work at Averett, Nicole participated in an archaeological "dig" in Israel, during the summer of 2020. This was something that she had always wanted to do.
Following her graduation, Nicole began working for the Exotic Hemp Company in Surf City, NC.
Nicole was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Danville and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Always active, Nicole enjoyed yoga, kayaking, golfing and adult kickball. She also liked living at the beach, traveling to other countries, and keeping up with friends and relatives on social media.
Nicole leaves behind to cherish her memory: her child, Ashley Robertson, of Surf City. NC: her father, Joseph Dennis Bracey of Danville VA; brothers, Joseph Dennis Bracey, Jr. (Xinya Wei) of Springfield, IL; Raymon Bair Bracey (Olesya) of Charleston, SC; sister, Kayla Johnsie Bracey, of Danville, VA; grandmother, Johnsie Choate Stidd, of Blenheim, SC; nephew, Madison Sun Bracey; aunts, Laura Stidd Rowe (Gilbert), of Conway, SC; Nancy Ruth Bracey Raines (James), of Bennettsville, SC; uncle, Jerry Bracey, (Nancy), of Bennettsville, SC; cousin, Michael Bracey, of Bennettsville, SC; and Gary Knick, of Surf City, NC, a very special person who brought much love to her life.
