Obituary

Margaret Ann Dixon McCoy, 73, of Burgaw was granted her angel wings on Thursday, September 5, 2013. Her final days were spent doing the things she loved most such as spending time with her beloved family.

She was born April 4, 1940 in Pender County, the daughter of the late Robert Scott and Mary Catherine Fitzgerald Dixon. Also lovingly remembered is her sister, Dorothy Mae Payne who preceded Margaret in death.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 52 years, Raymond C. McCoy; daughters, Carlette M. Stanley (Damon), Amy M. Everett (Kevin) and Gloria M. Harvey (Erik); grandchildren, Jessica Stanley, Jeremy Stanley, Erin Harvey, Erica Harvey and Trent Harvey; brothers, Robert Edward Dixon (Molly), Thomas Earl Dixon (Charlotte) and Paul Donald Dixon; sisters, Ruth Shutt (Roy) and Mary Louise Benton; brother-in-law, Bill Payne; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Being a fabulous homemaker was Margaret's main occupation in life. She was an expert seamstress, great cook and delightful hostess filling her home with love, laughter and joy. She and Raymond instilled Christian values and the importance of family life in their girls and grandchildren. Margaret's life was always filled with grace and faith in Jesus Christ, even in the last eight years as she faced a very debilitating brain tumor. Her beautiful smile and sense of humor never faded. She has left to all of us gifts of courage and faith which is and always will be Margaret's legacy.
