Margaret Smith Weatherly, 87, of Kelly passed gently from her earthly life on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born April 4, 1929 in Vandergrift, PA, the daughter of the late Cassius L. Smith, Jr. and Mildred Porter Smith.

Margaret is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Clarence Bill Weatherly, Jr.; son, Stephen Allen Weatherly; daughter, Cynthia W. Brewer (Carl); grandchildren, Levi Weatherly, Billy Gray Weatherly, Sam Brewer and Anna Brewer; brother, Richard A. Smith (Amanda); and many extended family and friends.Margaret graduated from East Carolina University majoring in home economics. Soon after graduating she and Bill were married and she spent many happy years as wife, mother and homemaker living in Durham. Twenty years ago when Bill retired they moved to Bladen County and became active in the Kelly community. Margaret was a faithful member of Centerville Baptist Church.

Margaret loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her love of nature and all of God's creations gave her great joy. Her yard and flowers spoke clearly of how much she enjoyed gardening. Through the years, Margaret owned a number of dogs; all who were blessed to have been adopted by Margaret as they were loved and well cared for. Her gentle smile, soft spoken voice and sweet, sweet spirit will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, at Centerville Baptist Church with service beginning at 11:00 a.m... The Reverend Lamont Hemminger will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery.
