Margie Parrish
Pullen
September 10, 2011
Margie Parrish Pullen of Hampstead, NC passed from this earth to join our Heavenly Father on September 10, 2011. She was born November 19, 1944 in Rocky Mount, the daughter of the late Walter Bennett Parrish and Margaret Boyd Parrish.
She was the beloved wife of Edwin L. Pullen; mother of E. Parrish Pullen and Martie Pullen Nunez; and sister of Walter B. Parrish, Jr.
Margie held the most important job in the world-a homemaker. For 46 years she was the CFO, for 43 years she was the Director of Human Resources as well as Chief of Staff, and she was always the Project Manager for the family. Her favorite position was being "G.G." (Gorgeous Grandma) to four amazing grandchildren; Garrett Pullen Nunez, Makenna Parrish Nunez, Margaret Peyton Nunez and Emory Rose Pullen.
She was known for her gentle strength and infectious smile that would light up the room and disarm the strongest of opponents. She helped form the first Cub Scout Pack in Hampstead and was the first Den Mother. She often was a substitute teacher in the local school system in order to be closer to her children and be more in touch with their environment. She instituted the original "Wedding Policy" for Hampstead United Methodist Church where she was a member for many years. She was a volunteer for the Christian Community Caring Center in its infancy. Margie was a Christian in the truest sense. She didn't just "talk the talk" she "walked the walk". She endured the pain and agony of cancer with dignity and grace that could only be inspired by the Lord God Almighty. She was an inspiration to the medical personnel, other patients, and all who came in contact with her as she fought the battle for her life. Her inspiration to others will live for years to come. There is one word that could sum up the legacy of this wonderful person and that word is "Lady" in its truest sense.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2011 at Hampstead United Methodist Church. A celebration of Margie's life will be Saturday, September 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the same location with the Rev. Randy Maynard and the Rev. Francis Daniel officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation for Zimmer Cancer Center, 2259 S. 17th Street Wilmington, NC 28401 or The Fisher House at www.FisherHouse.org
