Marguerite "Margie" Wheeler at the age of 96, on Monday, March 11, 2024 flew on wings of angels to her heavenly home following her long and blessed life on earth.

She was born August 18, 1927 in Pender County the daughter of Lawrence and Annie Ruth Murray Dale. In addition to her parents Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Thurman Wheeler; brothers, Floyd and Elmer Dale; sister, Edna Garriss; and Brenda Bishop, who was like a daughter to Margie.

Margie is survived by her sisters, Lucille Odom, Naomi Tatum, and Joanne Moore; Alana Walker who affectionally always called Margie "Granny"; Deanna Eakins and Deidra Bell; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family, all who dearly loved and cared for Margie.

Margie was a caregiver and lover of others all of her life. She did not have biological children but took many under her wing. Margie's journey on earth was a life well lived. Her many years were filled with an abiding love for the Lord, time spent with family and giving freely to all she came in contact with. Margie's gentle spirit, generosity, and selflessness brought joy into the lives of so many folks all through the years.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with funeral service beginning at 12 noon. The Rev. William Moore will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
