Maria Staudinger Baker, age 88, of Atkinson died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Pender Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Baker was born January 11, 1920, in Egglekofen, Germany and was the daughter of the late Johann and Anna Schmitthuber Staudinger.

She was a member of Atkinson Baptist Church. Maria was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and sister who was dearly loved. Cherished memories of Maria will forever remain in our hearts.

Surviving are her husband, Clarence Baker of the home; children, Maria Lewis and husband, Lawrence, of Burgaw, Roy Baker and wife, Linda, of Council Grove, KS, Betti Edwards and husband, Billy, and Charlie Baker and wife, Becky, all of Atkinson; grandchildren, Karin Porter, Michael Conway, Brian Lewis, Adam Lewis, Jason Baker, Bethany Carlson, Hans Edwards, Matthew Edwards, Lisa Chambers, Stacie Baker and Austin Baker; ten great grandchildren and sister, Betty Lorenz of Germany.

Funeral service will be 6:00 PM Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Merrell McKoy officiating.

The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel immediately following the funeral service.

Private family graveside service will be on Wednesday at Woodcock Cemetery.
