Marilyn Kay Powers, age 52, of Maple Hill died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at her home.

She was born June 2, 1957 in Greensboro and was the daughter of James Bondurant, Sr. and the late Barbara Smith Bondurant. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael Bondurant.

Surviving in addition to her father are her husband, Stanley Gene Powers; daughters, Amber Lynn Powers and Shelby Gail Powers and her special friend, Josiah B. Hickman; son, Austin Eugene Powers; brothers, Billy Bondurant and his wife, Ruzie, and James Bondurant and his wife, Stacie; and grandmother, Christine Bondurant. Marilyn also leaves behind her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Sue Powers; brother-in-law, Joseph Powers and his wife, Marcia; sisters-in-law, Sonya Powers and Kimberly Powers Barnhill and her husband, Jacob Barnhill.

Marilyn loved her family dearly and was the best mom and wife that she could be. She adored being outdoors in God's beautiful world, planting flowers and working in her yard. Through the years her faith in God and sparkling personality brought joy to others, but leaving her earthly life brings sadness to all who love Marilyn so dearly.

Marilyn was a member of Maple Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Maple Hill Baptist Church with The Rev. Micky Cox officiating.

Burial will be in Powers Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Jake Barnhill, Justin Barnhill, Jacob Barnhill, Joseph Powers, Albert Henderson, and Brandon Powers.

The family will receive friends at the Powers residence at Maple Hill.
